What you'll learn

To provide delegates through a combination of theory illustrated with examples, interactive role play/practical, condition, symptoms, and treatment quiz sessions with updates of legislation, refreshment of knowledge, skills and confidence of first aid, the first aider role and responsibilities, knowing your equipment, how to identify first
aid conditions with casualty(ies) treatment, when to call emergency services or transfer casualty(ies) to medical centres, and how to report the first aid incident.

Understanding of the legislation behind first aid at work
Understanding what is first and the main roles of First Aider, including protection against infections
Incident management and mechanism of injury
Consent for treatment
Primary and Secondary surveys
Types of casualties and how to deal with the casualty – includes: responsive; unresponsive and breathing
– Airway management, vomiting and recovery position; and unresponsive and non-breathing – CPR
Respiratory System and the conditions that affect this system and treatments

Circulatory System and the conditions that affect this system and treatments

  • Angina
  • Heart Attack
  • Cardiac arrest and use of AED equipment

The course objective is to recap on first aid skills, knowledge and confidence through a combination of theory,
interactive role play/practical sessions and condition, symptoms and treatment quiz.

 

Delegates must attend both days for assessment purposes.
