Fire Risk Assessment Service

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires a fire risk assessment to be carried out for all commercial properties. It is the responsibility of the appointed ‘Responsible Person’ or ‘Duty Holder’ to ensure the assessment is suitable and sufficient. Where a business employs five or more persons, the significant findings of the fire risk assessment must be recorded.

The FFA (Fire and First Aid) LTD can remove the stress of undertaking a fire safety risk assessment by providing a Fire Risk Assessor who is qualified, has suitably experienced in simple and complex buildings, and is NAFRAR(1) Tier 3. Working alongside your responsible person(s), the fire risk assessor will produce a methodical, suitable, and sufficient report of hazards and legislative deviations within the premises and provide a fire risk assessment record of significant findings with clear and constructed fire safety recommendations for effective reduction, minimisation, or management of the risks, that will allow for implementing an action plan with suitable completion timescales. The recommendations are appropriate to the premises, business practises, the safety of people who work within the premises and others who may be affected by a fire situation on and surrounding the premises.

The FFA (Fire and First Aid) LTD have experience for fire risk assessments within hotels, residential/sleeping accommodation buildings, hospitals/healthcare, schools, factories, warehouses, shops, public houses, vehicle repair shops, amongst others.

The FFA (Fire and First Aid) LTD can provide consultancy service for guidance, advise and cost-effective solutions with regulatory compliance for fire risk assessment enquiries.

Fire Strategy

It is not clearly defined in the fire legislation for commercial businesses to have a documented fire strategy that includes the fire precautions, the management systems for fire safety and fire protection. The FFA (Fire and First Aid) LTD can provide consultancy with the appointed ‘Responsible Person’ or ‘Duty Holder’ with their fire strategies requirements in order to meet the primary fire safety and building safety legislation, as it is clear that without the fire strategy it would not be possible for the business to monitor their existing/new building(s) and fire safety management systems performance or the management of changes, neither guarantee that a fire risk assessment is appropriate and sufficient.

Compartmentation

The Building Regulations in the UK provide specific legal criteria for the construction and enlargement of structures, with a primary emphasis on life safety and escape routes. It is crucial to understand that these restrictions might not be sufficient to safeguard persons and other assets while also satisfying property owners, corporations, and insurers and promoting business resilience. Therefore, additional methods for providing further fire compartmentation should be taken into consideration, primarily for high-value areas, sensitive assets, production or process areas, and occupants, especially in complex buildings.

The FFA (Fire and First Aid) LTD can provide non-intrusive fire compartmentation surveys to review existing fire compartmentation structures for commercial premises to ensure the safety of people within the building by assessing through visible sampling  of walls, infilled openings (ie doors, windows, hatches) floors, ceilings, ceiling/roof voids, service/lift shafts, ducting, etc for potential penetrations that would allow fire and smoke to travel through the areas/buildings. On completion of the survey produce a methodical, suitable, and sufficient report detailing the conditions of the structure(s) and deviations identified, provide clear and constructed fire safety improvement recommendations in alignment with the regulatory requirements for the effective reduction and minimisation of fire and smoke spread, and that will allow for implementing an action plan with suitable completion timescales.

The FFA (Fire and First Aid) LTD can provide consultancy service for guidance, advice, and cost-effective solutions with regulatory compliance for fire compartmentation enquires.
